Rethink/Reuse –
Damming the Waste Stream

When our rivers rise these days, the often carry an accumulation of cans, bottles, plastic jugs, chunks of styrofoam and other trash downstream. Much of this garbage finds its way into Puget Sound. The 1990 “Coast Weeks” clean-up “harvested” some 15 tons of refuse from our Sound beaches.

Recycling improves water quality in the Puget Sound watershed. The purchases we make relate directly to or production of garbage. Just recognizing some of the categories of recyclable materials will help you make wise decisions when you buy.
